Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk

Hoover & Strong is a 110-year-old, family-owned Jewelry manufacturer and refiner. We cater to the jewelry industry by producing over 30,000 eco-friendly and responsible Harmony jewelry products, all made in the USA. Our products and services include jewelry, contract castings, findings, mill products, diamond services, and eco-friendly metal refining.

Position Overview: The Accounts Payable/Receivables Clerk will be responsible for recording financial transactions and purchasing goods and services within the accounting department. This position plays an active role in the daily and monthly timely recording of transactions.

Salary: $20 to $22/hr based on experience

Responsibilities:

Daily (80%):

  • Enter and process Accounts Payable vouchers for payment & close purchase orders
  • Post checks received in mail to customer accounts in A|R System
  • Post lockbox receipts to customer accounts in AR System
  • Receives and distributes US Mail daily
  • Assist customers and vendors with account inquiries via phone
  • Maintain Petty Cash
  • Purchase goods and services
  • Enter credit cards in Paytrace
  • Assist customers with account inquiries via phone

Weekly (10%):

  • Print checks & match to vouchers, mail payments
  • File vendor invoices
  • Review vendor statements for outstanding balances

Monthly (5%):

  • Post Petty Cash transactions to the General Ledger

Other (5%):

  • Assist Director of Finance with other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting required; exposure to manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Accounting Certificate or other training is a plus
  • Experience in payables accounting software and MS Excel is plus; Microsoft experience is a plus
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a timely and independent manner
  • Must be able to communicate with customers and vendors clearly
  • Good organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • All candidates must pass an extensive background check, Credit, Criminal and Drug Screen
  • Must be willing to work in a metal free clothing environment, no cell phones.
