Position: Accounting Specialist

Department: Accounting

Supervisor: Controller

Status: Full-Time/Non-exempt

General Description: Accounting Specialist is responsible for all or any combination of the duties described in the essential functions below. Represents Thomas and Sons in the most positive and professional manner at all times. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the company handbook.

Skills beneficial to perform duties:
1) Computer competency including Loadmaster and MS Office Suite.

2) Knowledge of transportation industry

3) Strong internal/external communication skills

4) Organizational skills

Responsibilities:

1) Evaluate accounting priorities, processes and procedures to assure adequate controls are in place

2) Assures Company compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements

3) Maintains General Ledger and subsidiary systems for Arnold J. Thomas and Sons, Inc, Thomas &

EBB Holdings and EBB-Ventures Equipment, Thomas & Sons Logistics, Thomas & Sons

Distributors Inc. and Matrix Logistics, LLC.

4) Oversee month-end close and review all journal entries

5) Analyze and investigate account variances during the monthly close, determine accuracy and corrections or adjustments that may be needed.

6) Develop and maintain centralized electronic system for tracking contracts, vehicles, escrow accounts and other company programs.

7) Provides backup for Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and 1099

Settlements.

Miscellaneous

1. Employees who expect to be absent from work are responsible for notifying their supervisor at least 24 hours in advance. Should an unexpected emergency arise, you must notify your supervisor prior to the start of your shift.

2. Employees are to notify the Human Resources department of any change in status. (Address, phone, marital status, and dependent change).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
