Purdue University and its Accounting Services department are looking for a candidate with the capability of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, working independently, and contributing to a team environment The Accounting Manager provides leadership and management of various accounting functions and staff. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of accounting transactions and reports. The Accounting Manager will manage the various areas within accounting including construction accounting, gift accounting, and investment accounting, and will be responsible to verify all reconciliations of bank accounts are completed accurately and timely. The Accounting Manager will also serve as a resource for questions related to accounting. The Accounting Manager will ensure that Purdue’s accounting system is operating at an optimal level, which includes completeness and accuracy of the accounting records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements.

Required:

• BA/BS in Accounting or a related field
• 4 years of professional accounting experience or experience in a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in business applications, especially spreadsheets
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships
• Provide a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to lead and support change, growth, and flexibility in the organization through teamwork and leadership
• Demonstrated ability to understand and prepare complex data analysis and present data according to requirements
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and implement new accounting standards, University policies, and procedures

Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant
• Supervision experience
• Experience working with non-profit or higher education
• Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
