Summary: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the Accounting Department and assisting in all areas of financial reporting. We are looking for someone with the capability to develop and maintain accounting processes, internal controls, and systems for analyzing and reporting financial information. Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing some accounting team personnel, helping with audit preparation, completing month end close procedures, communicating with external customers regarding Accounts Payable and other financial information, and supporting the Controller in implementing and enforcing internal controls. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will assist in responding to internal questions and requests regarding financial data or financial procedures.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Manage and oversee aspects of the daily operations of the Accounting Department including:

• check runs
• accounts payable
• job costing
• cash receipts
• general ledger entries
• general ledger reconciliations
• revenue and expenditure variance analysis
• capital asset tracking

• Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce periodic financial reports or statements
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation, corporate regulations, and established best practices
• Assist in the preparation of financial reporting package and other reporting documents
• Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing
• Participate in preparation for the annual audit and coordinate with internal and external auditors
• Help in development of reports for management and regulatory bodies
• Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies
• Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
• Assign projects and staff to ensure compliance and accuracy in all accounting related work
• Review work of others for completeness and accuracy

Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

• Proven working experience in accounting in a supervisor role
• Knowledge of MS Office (especially excel)
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in fast paced environment
• Ability to shift priorities and tasks quickly
• Ability to manage strict deadlines
• Ability to prepare and understand financial reports
• Ability to direct and supervise
• Minimum BS degree in Accounting or Finance
• Public Experience and/or Professional certification (e.g. CPA or Master’s) is a plus
