Shaw Industries is seeking an accountant responsible for budget preparation, variance projections, weekly performance reports, and product costing. Monthly financial reporting will also provide support for the division and corporate accounting.
Responsibilities:

• Oversees activities of the Accounting Department.

• Prepares annual operating budget to be used by plant operations and staff for financial guidance. Generates, gathers and compiles needed information related to product efficiencies and waste, production outputs, labor staffing and compensation, plant services and all intended expenses. Assimilates data to construct a weekly/annual budget, forecasted production and product cost sheets. Prepares budget revisions with changes in business conditions.

• Reviews and ensures the accuracy of Plant Operating Variance System (POVA) as generated by the Accounting Clerk and reports needed information to Plant Management and Corporate staff.

• Produces Financial Variance Projections analyzing both assumptions and historical data to generate production, usage and spend projections (annual, quarterly, monthly, biweekly).

• Performs monthly accounting closing for plant in reconciling all inventory, usage and spend accounts. Ensures that all processes related to closing have been completed timely and accurately (ie. shipping and receiving, inventory counts, material flows). Makes all needed general ledger entries to create proper balancing and reconciliation, including oversight and/or generation of both automated and manual accruals.

• Oversees weekly material flows, guiding and directing staff in direction of investigating outlying issues.

• Initiates charges to Corporate R&D and other plants as needed for Sample Yarn Requests (SYR) produced at the plant.

• Prepares product cost estimates as requested for capital project proposals.

• Calculates products costing as new products are added to production.

• Analyzes trends, costs, earnings, and plant obligations incurred to aid in predicting future earnings and expenses.

• Compiles and prepares analysis and reports of weekly and monthly accounting activity and plant performance. Provides information to Plant Management and Corporate staff.

• Exercises judgment and initiative in interpreting policy and guidelines in accounting.

• Has in-depth knowledge of accounting and financial policies and procedures to make appropriate decisions based on experience and knowledge.

• Communicate with all levels of plant employees and senior management at the division level.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree - prefer emphasis in Accounting

• Must have two years of Accounting/Auditing experience
