Apple Product Design is looking for an outstanding 3D Artist to help create the future of digital maps. This person must be driven to build worlds that delight and inform our users as they use Apple Maps to explore and navigate the world. Working within the realities of sophisticated design, data, and engineering systems, they will demonstrate a broad set of design and technical skills to shepherd designs from initial ideation through prototyping and final implementation.
Key Qualifications
- Broad animation and modeling expertise, with an eye for lighting, color and detail
- Passion for using real-world data to build beautiful, dynamic visualizations of sophisticated spatial environments
- Deep experience employing procedural modeling techniques and tools to produce optimized stylized assets for gaming environments
- Ability to collaborate and communicate optimally with a wide range of design and engineering subject areas
- Curiosity about building upon and developing an existing aesthetic and art direction
- Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project
Description
This designer will imagine and build the environments and assets that make up the world of Apple Maps. They will work alongside other design teams to create stories across all Apple’s platforms, and collaborate with data and engineering teams to realize the product vision. Responsibilities of this position also include: developing look and feel by modeling and animating stylized 3D environments and assets using both real and mocked data sources, working with other design teams to develop a coherent vision for new experiences; using Houdini to build optimized procedural assets of structures and other natural and construct elements; producing rendered animations and stills for presentation and prototyping purposes; developing and maintaining a consistent aesthetic and contributing documentation to a style guide. Above all, the role requires a dedicated individual who understands Apple’s high standards and design aesthetic to the core and shares our deep dedication to building the best map in the world.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $161,000 and $278,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
