JOB TITLE: General Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUPERVISES: Non-Applicable

POSITION PURPOSE and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The role of a teacher within the Greenfield-Community School Corporation is to serve each learner and substantially impact the learning of all children. As such, teachers must believe all students can learn at high levels and that they as teachers are a causal agent of such learning and must possess a repertoire of instructional skills to create an atmosphere that inspires learning and target instruction to support each learner in progressing toward key learning outcomes.

The teacher is directly responsible for utilizing assessment and instructional practices that substantially enhance student learning within his or her classroom, and across the school, and create an engaging and respectful learning environment. The position entails evaluating assessment data, designing classroom instruction, establishing and maintaining a positive classroom culture, and working closely with students and teachers to measure learning performance data and utilize such data to guide further instruction. The position requires teachers to utilize research-based and innovative practices to leverage student learning in the areas of core content and 21st-century skills and knowledge and skills from a surface to a deep level of understanding.

Given the high level of expertise of the staff, the involvement level with all stakeholders, and the mass of research related to professional learning, the teacher must be well prepared to engage with stakeholders in an effort to build relationships and enhance the educational experience of adults and children.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Valid Indiana teaching license for the assigned grade, level and/or subject(s).

  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.

  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.

  • Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed material.

  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.

  • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.

  • Ability to operate office equipment.

  • Ability to reach in all directions.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluations of School Administrators.
